Description: Sir Christopher Hum KCMG is currently Master of Caius College. He was previously Her Majesty's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, his final posting in a foreign office career lasting over 35 years, of which he spent 18 years working in or on China. He was closely involved in the negotiations in the 1990s for the return of Hong Kong to Chinese rule.

Drawing on his experience, Sir Christopher explores the challenges facing China as it seeks to deal with the changes that have been precipitated by its rapid economic growth and increasing integration into the global political and economic system.
