Abstract: “the future is open source everything” Linus Torvalds

Open source software has been a phenomenal movement, but in the past decade open principles have been expanded to encompass may parts of society and are rapidly becoming part or our daily lives. From architecture, science, health care, education and even to politics, openness is being embraced by many organisations and topical areas, sponsored by Deloitte & Touche LLP.

So, what sort of future this will be, how far will the open culture will penetrate into society and can we really open source everything? Attempting to answer these questions, and giving an overview of some of the areas impacted by the open philosophy are:

Professor Peter Murray Rust (University of Cambridge). Professor David Leahy (Newcastle University). Mr Mike Robinson (Open Initiative Group, Deloitte & Touche LLP ). Mr Tom Steinberg (Founder of mysociety.org)

The panel is chaired by technology journalist and open source blogger Glyn Moody.
