Abstract: When will I receive my tuition fees invoice?

Invoices will be sent to self-funded and part-funded students after you have arrived in college and completed your matriculation. Invoices will be sent to your University email address. Funding providers will receive invoices from the college directly for those students who are fully-funded by an external organisation.

Fees and funding form

All students irrespective of funding status will receive a fees and funding form shortly before or on arrival in college to complete and return to the fees office. Once received, this should be completed and scanned/emailed to the fees office at fees@darwin.cam.ac.uk including the details of any funding. Please also supply any evidence of funding from your funding provider if appropriate, such as a letter of confirmation, so that the college can direct the fees invoice to the correct address for payment.

For those receiving Postgraduate loans from Student Finance England or equivalent, these are paid directly to student rather than to the college. Please complete the fees and funding form as self-funded in this case.

Undergraduate and PGCE students - If you are due to start a course which is eligible to receive funding from the Student Loans Company, and you are applying to your award authority (e.g. Student Finance England) for a loan to cover your tuition fees, your application should be submitted in time for it to be fully approved prior to enrolment. You need to do this every academic year. We will then receive a notification of fees due to be paid by the Student Loans Company and will offset this against any fees due to be paid by you. In most cases, this means that you will not be invoiced for any fees. Please complete the form as fully funded and put the name of the loan company in ‘name of organisation’.

Federal Loans - Information for the 2020/21 Academic Year: For most BA's and some 9 month courses there will be 3 disbursements (one at the beginning of each term). For the remaining BA's and 9 month courses and all other courses that are 10, 11, 12 months and PhD's there will be two disbursements one at the beginning of the first term and the second after the mid-point of the course (for the 2020/21 academic year). The dates will be in the ‘Notification of Student Loan’ letter which will be attached to the e-mail sent to you once your federal loan(s) have been processed and completed by the University’s Student Funding office.

The actual amount in GBP £ you receive will vary as it’s dependent upon the exchange rate from USD $ to GBP £ at the time of disbursement.

The funds will be divided into equal instalments and wired to your college. Just before each disbursement, we will contact you via email to confirm deductions for tuition fees, accommodation fees etc, with the balance then forwarded to your nominated bank account. Please complete the form as self-funded and put Federal Loan under ‘name of organisation’

What date shall I pay my fees by?

If you are fully self-funded, or paying a proportion of your fees personally, then payment is expected in full within 28 days of receiving your fees invoice.

Can I pay in instalments?

If you are receiving a Postgraduate loan from Student Finance England or equivalent, or receiving a monthly stipend from a University department, then an instalment plan in line with payments received can be arranged. Please contact the fees office at fees@darwin.cam.ac.uk for a form. Evidence of funding will be required.

How do I make payment?

Please see the Darwin College website here for ways to pay:
