Abstract: 'Gathering the Scattered Mind'

This sitting practice facilitates learning through:
Experiencing direct physical sensations that can ground us as we come to take our posture at the start of the practice.
Focussing on the breath - immediately bringing our self into our felt, present moment experiencing.
Bringing awareness to our physical and emotional self, noticing where we're pulled to, how we perhaps brace against or try to move away from.
Noticing the natural ebb and flow of experience through focussing on sound and the space between sounds; ever present, continually changing.
Stepping back from thoughts and emotions, providing us with an observer stance from which we can more easily respond to rather than react.
Allowing whatever may be present breath, thoughts, sound, physical sensations to exist just as they are. Fostering acceptance as we sit with whatever emerges, developing our capacity to be with our direct experience with openness, and compassion.
